About Mohali/Chandigarh

Mohali City shares its Boundary with Chandigarh which is capital of Punjab and Panchkula. Mohali is one of the tourist destinations in India where number of tourist comes for their vacation. After statement released by government of India to develop Mohali as Future city, it emerged as investment destination for IT, real estate, institutional sector and other industries. There are lots of places to visit around Mohali/Chandigarh e.g. Rock garden, Rose garden, Pinjore, Amb Sahib Gurdwara, City Park, North Country Mall are some of the local sightseeing spots. Mohali also have international stadiums for hockey and cricket.

Travel

Chandigarh/Mohali city is situated in the northern part of India in the state of Punjab. It is well connected with road, rail and flights to other parts of India.

Air:
Chandigarh airport (IXD) is the nearest airport which is 15 km away from CIAB campus. The airport is well connected with Delhi and other parts of India. Hired cab/taxis at INR 600 are available outside the airport. The participants may also reach Mohali via New Delhi by taxi/cab.

Rail:
Main Chandigarh Junction Railway Station (CDG) is well connected to all other important cities in India. The Chandigarh Junction railway station is at a distance of about 20 km from the CIAB campus. Auto-rickshaw at about INR 400 and cab/taxi about INR 600 from the station are available. The delegates are advised to make railway reservation well in advance to avoid any rush. Bus:
Good bus services are available in Chandigarh. From Chandigarh non-AC/AC bus services are available for Delhi (260 km). CIAB campus is about 10 km from the Chandigarh bus terminus at ISBT Road (Sector 17). Auto-rickshaw at about INR 200 and cab/taxi at about INR 300 are available at the bus stand.

Travel Advice

Weather: The weather at Mohali in December is expected to be mild cold. The temperatures are expected to range between 10-25°C. Participants are advised to carry warm clothing while travelling to Mohali.

Passport and Visa: Foreigners wishing to visit India should have a valid passport. Visitors should obtain entry visas before coming to India. For further information, please visit the website https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/.

Invitation Letter:
Upon request, the invitation letter will be issued to SEEC-2017 registrants after receipt of full payment of the registration fee. Invitation letter does not imply any financial support by SEEC-2017 organizing committee.

Insurance:
The Organizing Committee of SEEC-2017 will accept no liability for personal injuries sustained by or for loss or damage to property belonging to conference participants, either during all travel and the conference. It is, therefore, recommended that participants arrange their own personal health, accident and travel insurance.

Currency & Exchange:
The Indian currency unit is the Rupee (indicated INR). Bank notes are INR 2,000, INR 500, INR 100, INR 50, INR 20, INR 10 bills and coin denominations are INR 10, INR 5, INR 2, INR 1. One US dollar is about INR 67.0 (as of Sep, 2016). Money can be exchanged at the International Airport. Visa, Master, are accepted more readily here.

Time Zone & Business Hours:
Indian time is 5:30 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+5:30). Business hours for banks are generally from 10:00 to 16:00 on weekdays only. Banks are closed on even Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. ATMs are widely available.

Electric sockets:
India uses 230 Volts, 50 Hz alternating current as the power source. Plugs and sockets have either grounded / earthed 3 Pin connections (Type D) or ungrounded 2 pin connections (Type C).
